WWII marriages

I am a reporter with WUIS public radio in Springfield, IL. I can't help but notice in many obituaries in central and west-central Illinois the deceased were married during wartime in Palmyra, MO... The closest county seat outside of the Quincy border. Have any of you noticed such a trend, and know of a good explanation for the high rate of marriages in Palmyra around the war? Or possible contacts of historians in the area who study this time period?
