The only thing I have found is a Gideon G Frary in 1850 Ste.Genevieve Co.,MO census, b abt 1821 and also from NY.
Mariah naming a son Gideon also seems significant. There is an Ancestry tree for Gideon Frary, but no listing of his parents either.
Gideon's wife in 1850 was Caroline and the family file lists her as Caroline Sweek (a family of Sweeks are before Gideon's HH in 1850)

I don't have a primary source for James and Mariah's marriage either.
