Dr. Barron was my great-great uncle. He stalled his car in the high water trying to cross the Castor River (low water) bridge at Cornwall. The newspaper article I have states he left home about 10:30am to go see a patient in Cornwall. His car was discovered on the west bank of the river less than an hour later. His body was not recovered until the next day, about 1 1/2 miles downstream. His death was ruled an accidental drowning by the Coroner's Jury. He is buried in the IOOF Cemetery in Fredericktown. The newspaper articles speculate that had he stayed in his car, he would have probably been safe.
