Looking for descendants of AMANDA JAMES and her brother, who is listed in 1860-80 MO census as JAMES JAMES. Amanda was living with grandparents Robert & Talitha (Bonifield) SMITH. The children were split up for unknown reasons, each living with a relative with no definate information on their parents.
A couple of months ago, I recieved a photo of the JESSE JAMES GANG and on the back (in faded hand writing)was written addressed to "Mr. and Mrs Joe Bonifield". Needless to say, it sparked my curiousity and the only connection I could find was through the 2 JAMES children - Amanda & James.
I'm hoping there are descendants out there who recognize these names and might could shed some light to these 2 children.
I have all the children for Robert & Talitha (Bonifield) Smith and their spouses - except for one....NANCY SMITH b. about 1847 in IL (probably Morgan Co, IL where the other siblings were born except for the youngest of Robert & Talitha, who was William and he was born in Macon Co, MO in 1857). And with the children having a different last name than Smith, it would be safe to say that Nancy would be their mother. I'm thinking maybe she died and the father abandoned them, unable to care and provide for them
I would greatly appreciate any information, clues, hints, possibilities for these children and family. Thank you in advance....
