Anna, thank you for responding to my inquiry. I have been trying for quite some time to put the pieces of Uel/Mel's life together, but have hit a brick wall. He was my husband's gg grandfather. I believe Uel was married 3 times, Polly, the 1st wife, Mary 2nd wife, and Martha Jane Fanning, being my husband's g grandmother. I too, have heard that there may be Native American connections through Uel. My husband remembers his grandmother Abbie Gale, making the remark "tee hee hee, there's a little bit of Indian blood in me."
