Thanks for the post - My Clarkson tie in Linn County is Mary Francis Clarkson b 12/22/1819 d 9/5/1870 m 12/12/1838 to Essom Hannan. I haven't found an exact tie to her siblings, or her parents. I did find an lds record that says a William Clarkson b 1799 in Metz France as a father to Mary Francis Clarkson, and also another daughter named Mary Anne Clarkson with wife listed as Miss La Rue(Two daughters named Mary - unlikely, or one addopted from previous marriage - still unlikely). I think your William is probably related somehow to my Mary, and another William may be a common ancestor. I would like to exchange any dates or other geneology info you have to make a connection. I would also be interested in the farm - map info you found. I'm researching Jerome and Hannan in the same area you are looking. You should look on the Linn County Web site for Cemetery locations. There are some pretty good directions on it. Mary is buried in the Hayes Cemetery, which is up on a hill in a grove of trees & is basically overrun with brush & most of the stones are laying flat. I haven't been to Parsons. I have some distant family (Jeromes) living in Purdin, and some in Brookfield. We're thinking about going there for one of their 100 year birthdays.

Here's my notes on Mary Francis Clarkson:

Headstone is next to Essom's. It is broken off and laying down. "Wife of Essom Hannan, aged 76y 8m ?d"

Clarkson info from Linn County: John Holland married Sarah Clarkson 14 Nov. 1867

Early Settlers of Linn County: Up to 1847, however, ten years after the establishment of the seat of justice, the following persons had either been residents of the place or property owners therein:: William Clarkson

1840 Linn County Census
Surname Given Name (s) Page Township or Other Info
HANNON ESOM 251 Parsons Creek
HANNON JOHN 246 Yellow Creek

1850 Linn County Census
CLARKSON JAMES 40 50th District
CLARKSON JOHN 19 50th District
CLARKSON WILLIAM 2 50th District

1870 Linn County Census
CLARKSON Achilles D 25 M KY 788 321
CLARKSON Achilles M 64 M VA 788 321
CLARKSON Henry C 26 M KY 788 321
CLARKSON Sarah J 20 F MO 788 340

CLARKSON Samuel 40 M VA 788 253

I would assume that this William Clarkson is a brother or father to Mary Francis Clarkson. Sarah Clarkson is probably a sister. Haven't located any information on the parents of Mary F. Clarkson.

Clarkson, James M. married Tharp, Elizabeth on 20 Jan 1848

Note: Check Howard County MO for Clarksons, this is where Essom & Mary were Married

Update: LDS file indicates William Clarkson is Father of Mary Francis.
