M. A. Hildreth was Mary Anne Hildreth, she was married to Johnathan Hildreth 1829 in KY. In June of 1838 Jonathan died leaving Mary a widow. At that time there were four children at home. John Henry born 1832 KY, William Jefferson born 1834 Ralls County, MO Harriet Elizabeth born 1835 and Robert More born 1839 the last two in Lewis County MO. In 1849 the two oldest boys left for the California Goldfields. They are registered in the Yuba County Census 1850. In 1865 William Jefferson left California and returned to MO where he married Florence Bevans then living in Canton Missouri. Together they all left MO with Florence's mother Mary(Higgins)Bevans, William's mother Mary Anne Hildreth, his sister Harriet, her husband John P. Bevans and four children, also Robert M. Hildreth youngest son of Mary Anne went too. They all traveled together by wagon train, the journey took six months. They traveled to western California and settled in Mendocino County, CA
