I think I have found positive information from Goodspeed's that your Margaret Cherry is NOT the daughter of James Cherry of Lawrence Co. MO.
Pg 182, "Goodspeed's History of Lawrence Co. MO"
James J. Cherry, a son of James and Rachel (Tolliver) Cherry, was born in Warren County, TN on January 1, 1837. His father James Cherry, was born in Rowan Co. Nc Sept 3, 1806 and when five years of age , removed with his parents to Tennessee, making the trip across the country in a two wheel cart.
Rachel Tolliver was born in North Carolina, and was taken by her parents to Tennessee, in which State she married James Cherry, about 1830. They became the parents of nine (9) children who grew to maturity.
Those living are: Mary A(Mrs John P Williams), John H., Nancy E (Mrs E P Pollitt), James, William E, Louisa, Sarah (Mrs Evan Buck), Wade H, and Amanda J. Those dead are: Amelia E, Marion F, and Joseph A.
There was no Margaret Cherry mentioned as a child of James J Cherry and Rachel Tolliver in the Goodspeed's which also listed the nine (9) children of James J Cherry to his first wife Elizabeth Essery whom he married September 26, 1839.
Get back to me as I have found your Margaret Cherry on an earlier Kentucky Census as the daughter of an Elijah Cherry.
