John: Bowers Mill is on the Lawrence Co.-Jasper Co. line northwest of the present Stotts City and west southwest of Phelps. The 1879 atlas reprint I have has it in the southwest corner of the Green/Greene Township of Lawrence Co. After the township lines were changed to make Red Oak Township in the northwest corner of Lawrence Co., Bowers Mill is now in Vineyard Township. It looks like the village of Bowers Mill was also known as Lyons. Bowers Mill was burned during the Civil War and I don't believe there is much left of it.
