Lawrence County is comprised of about 16 townships:
Mount Pleasant, Buck Prairie, Turnback, Freistatt, Spring River, Marionville, Chesapeake, Red Oak, Lincoln, Green, Mount Vernon and Hoberg, Aurora, Pierce and Vineyard.

The Lawrence County Historical Society has books on Cemetery Inscriptions for each of these townships for about $6.00.

I checked my volumes of marriages and did not find your Benjamin Hunt listed.
Census records for your Benjamin Hunt were found on line. In 1900 he is listed in Douglass County, MO, age 68. He is also wrote he became a citizen in 1834 which would have been 2 years of age or possibly when he came to this county with his British parents.
There should be immigration rolls of microfilm or transcribed books of British immigrants for 1830's. His wife was born in Kentucky on the 1870 Census so if you knew her maiden name I would think your Benjamin Hunt married his wife in Kentucky where she was born.

You might see if you could find him with a Civil War Unit assignement in Illinois? You might find him also on line with an Illinois unit that fought in Missouri, Tennessee or Arkansas? He may have a Civil War Pension Service record?

Hope this helps?

Jean
