Buck Prairie Cemetery is located in Center of Section 10, Township 26, Range 25 two miles southwest of Marionville. Property was deeded 19 Sept 1891 by William Rogers and wife Mary J. to County Court "to the northwest corner of the Neece graveyard in Buck Prairie one acre (Bk 55, P 231). Oldest marked grave, Tolinda Berry 1 Aug 1836 4 Mar 1858. No burials since 1923. Section 15 Thomas Marsh & George Rodgers, 1847, Geroge Rogers, 1850, 1852 (pg B) Narrative about GEORGE ROGERS written by Fred Mieswinkel. George Rogers, born 1789-1799, Tennessee was an early settler in Buck Prairie Township. He is probably the same as B. G. Rogers in the 1840 Census of Barry County. He died July 4, 1862 and was buried at Buck Prairie. His wife, Abigail (maiden name unknown) was born ca 1805, Tennessee and died sometime after 1870. She is buried at Buck Prairie. Only the top of her stone, with her name is extant; all dates are missing. The Probate of one son may help in establishing this family. Caswell Rogers died Aug 30 1871, and is buried at Buck Prairie. Letters were granted on his estate Aug 19, 1871 (Box 20, No. 532) and names of heirs are listed along with marriage dates of children to their spouses found in Lawrence County Marriage Records, Vols ABC and Vol D. (Vol 5, LCMO Tombstone Inscriptions, pg B & D preface pgs) Lawrence County Historical Society has marriage records from 1845-1943 in 15 volumes.
