I find Christopher and Martha C's marriage interesting and this could be a Martha C (Turner?) who had married a Shipman sibling or a 1st cousin prior to moving to LCMO who died in the Civil War back in Bedford County. At this time during the War, it was not uncommon for women to marry brothers of their deceased husbands or husbands to marry sisters to their wives if their wife had died in childbirth. CHECK CIVIL WAR SOLDIERS ENCYCLOPEDIA for service records and Tennessee Units. A BRIDES INDEX showed a Mary C TURNER but not marrying a Shipman!

The can be purchased through Fred Mieswinkel, Lawrence County Historical Society, P O Box 406, Mt Vernon, MO 65712 and are sold for $6.00 each except Volume 1 which is $10.00. Volume 1, has Barry County Marriages 1839-1845 since it lost part of County to become Lawrence County in 1845.
There are 2 Turner Marriages from Vol II, Joshua and Robert H but they didn't marry any Shipmans.
