I only have a tidbit of information on Alford W Nichols. I came across him by accident. According to his headstone at Find A Grave, he was born 4 Jul 1847 and died 1 Jan 1904. He is buried in Victor, Ravalli County, MT. His wife was Margaret A Nichols with the same headstone, and they apparently had a son Named Joseph S Nichols also with the same headstone. I can also tell you that the Bureau of Land Management website shows that he purchased land in Ravalli County, MT.

I may or may not be related to him through my gg grandfather William B. Nichols, but I have yet to connect them other than they were both born in Missouri (about 13 years apart).

Hope this helps,

Jennifer
