Have question about 1870 Lafayette Co. MO. census

I was searching Ambrose Hunter, wife Sarah E. who were living with Sarah's parents, George W. Bradley in Aug.1870 census.
It listed Sarah in the census, then it listed her as (murdered). That has me real confused. Two or three families down, it list another person as (hung). I thought a person had to be living to be in the census. Has any one read any thing about this murder? Ambrose was a older brother to my g-grandmother.
