It's a possiblilty that John was Aquilla's son, but if so why was he not living with Aquilla in 1850? No one in Aquilla's line has ever mentioned a son, John, so I think the chances are slim, but possible. Another possible is the mysterious Thomas Nail. He was either a son or a grandson of Nicholas Nail of Roane Co. and was mentioned in court records while the family was settling up Nicholas' estate. In 1836, he was said to be in Arkansas and there was a Thomas Nail who served in the army during that time. He may have been involved in moving the Indians to their new homes in the west. I can't find out anything about Thomas, so am not sure what happened to him. The Thomas Nail mentioned in the 1836 court records was the son of Betsy Nail. Whether this is the same Thomas that was mentioned as a son of Nicholas in his will is undertermined. Betsy died young, so it probably fell to Nicholas and Mary Ann to raise her son. None of Aquilla's brothers had a John born ca 1837. There were several Johns in that generation, but they are all accounted for. As for the Bradleys, I can't find a trace of them, either. I suspect they were in Benton Co. Ark in 1850. Either some pages are missing from the 1850 census, or not everyone got counted, because there are families that are not listed that I know were there. I did find a William M. Bradley that married Mahala Carter 10 Nov 1839 in Miller Co. Mo. Not sure if this is the right couple or not. Notify Administrator about this message?
