I remember my father saying he saw a public hanging as a child. He grew up in Jasper county, just a few miles outside of Carthage. He was born in 1915. So the one he witnessed must have been in the late teens or in the twenties.

If you find out anything please post it. I also would like to know when the last public execution occurred.
