I am looking for information on the family of James W. HARRIS, born about 1814 in Virginia.
I believe his wife, Catherine E / Kate HARRIS was also born in Virginia.

He is in the 1850 Census in in HOWARD COUNTY, Missouri.
1850 US Census Howard Co, Missouri, no township listed, 25 Oct 1850, p 191
James W Harris, age 35, merchant, 4500, b Virginia
C E Harris, 30, b. Missouri
George W Harris, 62 (sic) [should be 12] b. Missouri, attended school in last year
R (O or G) Harris, age 10, attended school in last year
James O C Harris, age 4, b Missouri
S G Harris, age 3, b. Missouri
Jos Nelson, age 22, b. Missouri
Kate Harris, age 10, b. Missouri

CARROLL COUNTY Missouri Wills and Administrations 1834-70 gives a probate date of June 1853 and says Franklin A. Atwood, was made guardian for Richard A., James H. C., Samuel G., and Frank A. Harris, minor heirs of James W. Harris.

In 1870, his widow Kate is in Waco, McLennan Co, Texas, remarried to A J CONROW, and living with her sons, G W HARRIS, 21, R S HARRIS, 19, J H C HARRIS, 17, S G HARRIS, 13, and F HARRIS, 9.

The five HARRIS boys all fought for the Confederacy from Texas.

By 1870, Kate and Mr Conrow are living in Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co, New Jersey. Her son, Richard S HARRIS, must have gone with them, because he marries Cornelia Ann SMITH of Monmouth Co, NJ in 1871.

Does anyone know who James W HARRIS’ parents are and where he came from in Virginia or anything about Kate?
