The Joshua Saunders and Olive (Crandall) have turned out to be my GGG-gparents.
Their son Wm Charles Sanders is my GGgfa. Please note that I don't have documentation on this yet. Sally my new found cousin is still working on it. But she did confirm last week the above information. As to the other Sanders listed below I have seen some of the names in my research looking for my GGG-gp's. But other than that I know nothing.
I almost forgot a very important point. This discovery was found in Lincklaen, Chenango Co.,Ny. However it was found via the census initally by Sally. Then she found much more in a book from the Historical Society in Norwich, Chenango County, NY. The lady that gave it to her, husband had compiled it. He was related to the Saunders some way. He is deceased though. So we don't know what the connection is to all these Sanders/Saunders. Some of these may be related to the Jacob Sanders line of Cortland Co., Ny of which I have the FHB. I have been having problems with sleep lately so have not been thinking very clearly nor getting much genealogy work done. I'm hoping this improves in the next week. S.B.
------------------------------------------------------------

I did go to the library again yesterday and copied some Burdick and Crandall pages. I also went over to the Co. Clerk to see the 1875 census and there was William again! At least I THINK he's yours; there was not one smidgen of info after his name and I was looking at handwritten books.
See if this family rings any bells for you:

14 June 1875 Lincklaen Chenango Co. NY (Chenango Co. Clerk's records)

#138 Nathan Sanders Head 33 b. Chenango Co.
Anna Sanders wife 29 b. Cortland Co.
William E. Sanders son 4 b. Chenango Co.
WILLIAM SANDERS

(I've never seen an entry like this where no info at all is given. His name is also on the last line of the census book page.)

The next one I found not far from Nathan Sanders was

#142 Samuel Sanders 36 b. Cortland Co.
Mary Sanders 35 b. Onondaga Co.
Jessie " 10 b. Chenango Co.
Addie " 06 b. Chenango Co.

Look through your Sanders list and see if you see Samuel or Nathan. I
think Nathan is another child of Joshua Jr. This is one of the the families who seems to have stayed over the generations.

Other Sanders in 1875 include:
#91 Osborn Sanders Head 41 Chenango (all in family b. Chenango Co.)
Melissa Sanders wife 36
Edwin " son 11
Evaline " dau. 06
Bertha " dau. 3 8/12

The Albert Sanders family also listed. Albert is 37

#89 Joshua Sanders 75 RI
Mary " 71 RI
Nancy Cameron 44 Onondaga
Olive Baker 79 RI (she is sister to Joshua)

A John Wells family is listed and wife Cordelia Wells is a Sanders I believe, probably one you have tho' not Williams's daughter. She is 46 b.
Chenango Co.
=================
I should tell you that the woman who works there who took the Lincklaen
scrapbook off the shelf for me to see is not a Saunders nor was her
husband, now deceased. He had Saunders ancestry and I have no idea which one was his. Maybe I'll find out in time. Shirley knows what's in the scrapbook so gave it too me after I'd asked for info on Lincklaen Saunders families.

I can give you a bit more info for now from what I gathered from the scrapbook. Remember there was NOTHING about William except his date of birth and his wife's name as Loisa ... no kids were listed which surprised me as they were listed in the 1850 census. But I didn't need that; what I wanted was there -- his parents!! and some interesting data on his siblings and their children, of course.

JOSHUA SAUNDERS ((ca 1768 RI - 1850-1855 Lincklaen, Chenango, NY)
(Apparently no one knows where he or his wife are buried or stones are gone.)

OLIVE CRANDALL (7 August 1773 Hopkinton, RI - July 1856 Lincklaen, Chen., NY)

Children:

OLIVE (1796 RI - after 1875 census) m. George Baker

GEORGE (22 Sep 1797 RI - 8 Sep 1870) m. (1) Lucinda Maxon (2) Mrs. Nancy Maxwell He is buried in Lincklaen Center Cemetery

JOSHUA JR. (Oct 1799 RI - 14 Sep 1880) m. (1) Mary Champlin (2) Nancey Cameron He is buried in Lincklaen Center Cemetery

CATHARINE (13 Jan. 1802 RI acc. to 1850 census - 29 Jan 1859) m. Wm. Carpenter
She is buried in Lincklaen Center Cemetery

WILLIAM (ca. 1806/7 NY - after 1880 census) m. Loisa Hills
(My GG-gp's) S.B.

ABEL A. C. (ca 1809 NY - ???) m. Emeline Champlin (It was surmised that A. C. stood for "Azariah Crandall.")
==============
As for the people who are Olive's ancestors, I'll probably just send you copies of pages from the Crandall and Burdick genealogies. They are all there. Meanwhile, you can send me a check to cover copying expenses only and maybe postage. Also send your mailing address. I'll try
to get this wrapped up this week as we're going to Minnesota next week.

One day I might find your Joshua Saunders' ancestry. It is surely there in RI right along with all the Babcocks, Crandalls, Burdicks, Maxons, etcetera, etcetera.

For now ...

Hi Stan,

I checked the microfilms of the old Waterloo City Directories today and found a few entries. Keep in mind that not every year was filmed, but at least this might help you figure out what happened when!

Microfilm CD-01 1873-74 only
Page 47

Sanders, -----, teamster, res 5th & Walnut ES
(This reads, last name Sanders, no first name given, residence at corner of 5th & Walnut streets on the East Side of Waterloo)

Microfilm CD-02 1886 only
Page 37

Sanders, Dennison, teamster, Commercial
(This reads last name, first name, occupation, residence West side of town)

Microfilm CD-03 1888-89; 1897-98
1888-89 Page 133

Sanders, Dennison, laborer, h 126 N. Commercial

Sanders, Eliza, widow of William, h 126 N Commercial
(this reads that Dennison was a laborer and home address was 126 North Commercial Street, West Side and that Eliza, widow of William also lived at same address...I would say it is likely Eliza is Louisa, Dennison's Mother)..........My cousin Nancy Hills Lamps is correct in her assumption here. Stan Brookshier, Sr. 17-3-2002

1897-98
No Sanders listed (also checked outlying areas included in Directory)

Now Stan, here's what I think you'll be thrilled to have: the obituary for Louisa!

Microfilm Waterloo Daily Courier January 1, 1898-April 30, 1898
Page 5 (far left column, 6th article/paragraph):

FUNERAL OF MRS. SANDERS

The funeral of Mrs. Louisa Sanders, who died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bidwell, occurred this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence.
Mrs. Sanders was 85 years of age and had been ill since last fall. She was the mother of twelve children; eleven of them are living. They are: Mrs. Green, Dunkerton; Mrs. Addie Richards, Fairbank; Mrs. Maria Bidwell, Waterloo; Denison, Goldfield; Elijah, Dows; Columbus, Jasper, Joel, Hamilton, Mo; Mrs. Celia Bean, Los Angeles, Cal; Mrs. Hattie Hutchins, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Eunice Adams, Wapsie Mills; Mrs. Clarinda Coon, Lincoln.

Stan, Dunkerton, Fairbank and Eagle Grove are all close to Waterloo; Lincoln is about 50 miles southwest. I'm not sure where Goldfield is; I'd guess Wapsie Mills is in northeast Iowa somewhere along the Wapsipinicon River (look around Independence or Brandon Iowa to locate river) so you might want to get a good map of Iowa and some colored pins to mark the locations...I'd guess all but the Hamilton, Missouri and Los Angeles, California kids made it to her funeral!

Happy Hunting:-)
Nancy

Patti plase note above that in obit it shows Joel in Caldwell County, Mo. Until I saw that I had often wonder how my gfa had ever managed to meet my gmo.

Stan,
There was some information on Ancestry.com, and then I picked some up from the USgenweb site. If the work is good, it is just like you said about being blue blood on the Cessna side. Hey, Hey!
I'll send more as I come across it.
