Hello: There is controversy here in Springfield, MO.,about the Crenshaw Mansion. In 1917 there were secret passageways in the Crenshaw Mansion that were searched by police. They could not even find all the secret rooms and passageways for several days...because there were so many and someone did a great job of building them. The website that you mentioned about Rev. Edwards states that the Crenshaw Mansion was used as part of the Underground Railroad. That paragrah has a footnote notation of "22". The "22" must refer to some quotation or documentation of some sort. The question is,"what is the footnote"? I would really love to know what the documentation is for that statement. I just heard that Randy McConnell died. I did not know that. He is the one who would probably answer the question of what the documentation is. If you know anything about the footnote, please contact me. I really want to prove that the Mansion was what it was. I can see not reason why there would be all kinds of secret rooms and passageways there in 1917 unless it was used to hide runaway slaves...there were other points along the underground railway where a few African-Americans seemed to be working on a farm but in reality were simply "looking busy" to fool slave-hunters. In reality they were resting for a few days until it was safe to move on up the underground railway. This may be what Crenshaw was doing with his mansion. I could be wrong. Do you know about the Keet baby kidnaping in 1917? Kidnappers used the Crenshaw Mansion for a hideout. The baby's body was found there in a cistern. Please contact me if you can tell me more. Thanks Brian
