Obituary: Elizabeth Catherine Simpson was born in Hardin County Kentucky, December 4 1843, and died in her home, 302 South Wilson, Cherryvale Kansas, March 2 1925 at the age of 81, two months and 26 days. When still a child she moved with her parents from Kentucky to Illinois.
On April 29, 1862, she was married to James H. Simpson, who after a period of almost a half century of meeting life's trials and sharing it's joys together, in Illinois and Kansas, he was separated from his beloved companion by death on February 20 1905 at Grenola, Kansas.
Twelve children were born to this union, three of whom have passed from earth's scenes. Of them who are living, four sons are: Ernest of Sedan Kansas: James F. of Arizona: Thomas P. of Pattonsburg Missouri: and Charley M. Simpson who resides in Cherryvale. Five daughters are: Mrs. Almeda Woodring, Pattonsburg, Missouri: Mrs. Mary A. Parker, Boicourt Kansas: Mrs. Cora Leard, Lane Kansas: Mrs. Caroline Beall, El Dorado Springs Missouri: and Mrs. Lillian L. Morgan of St. Joseph Missouri.

Mrs. Simpson had lived in Cherryvale about four years, during which time she has enjoyed reasonably good health, nor was she sick long before her death came.
The funeral services were held from the family residence, Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. E. Hamilton, pastor of the First Baptist Church. The body was taken to Grenola Kansas over the Sante Fe this afternoon, where burial will be made in the Grenola Cemetery beside her husband, a Civil War veteran who proceeded her in death twenty years ago.

1) Emmons Simpson: died only a few weeks after the 1880 census was taken - 18 August 1880. He is buried at Muddy Creek Cemetery in Daviess County Missouri alongside the Asberry Parker family.

2) Almeda Ann Simpson: married Benjamin Woodring.

This License Authorizes: Any Judge, Justice of the Peace, Licensed or Ordained Preacher of the Gospel, or any other person authorized under the Laws of this State, to Solemnize Marriage between Benjamin Woodring of the County of Gentry and State of Missouri who is over the age of twenty-one years, and Miss Almeda A. Simpson of _ in the County of DeKalb and State of Missouri who is over the age of eighteen years.

Witness my hand as Circuit Clerk and Ex-Officio Recorder, with the Seal of Office hereto affixed, at my office in Maysville, the 5th day of March 1887. By Geo. H. Roberts, Deputy; L. D Ransom, Circuit Clerk and Ex-Officio Recorder.

This is Ben's second marriage, his first wife, Clara A. Manring, died of complications following child birth.*

Obituary: Benjamin Woodring was born in Hardin County Kentucky May 5th 1843, died December 30th, 1906, aged 63 years, 7 months, 25 days. Was married to Clara A. Manring February 24th, 1870. To this union were born 5 children - 3 boys and 2 girls - one boy living. He was again married to Almeda A. Simpson, March 6th, 1887. To this union was born 8 children 5 boys and 3 girls, all living at the time of fathers death. He moved to Missouri with his parents in 1858. Joined to the Baptist Church in 1863. The funeral was preached by the writer at Old Freedom Church to a large congregation of sorrowing friends. Loving friends laid his body to rest in the Wheeler Cemetery... H. B. Tillery, Pastor.

Obiturary: Mrs. Anna Woodring died at her home west of Pattonsburg Tuesday evening about seven o'clock. Her death came the day after her seventy-eighth birthday. Mrs. Woodring has been ill for some time and her children had all visited her recently. She is survived by seven children, W. C. Woodring, Auron, Neb.; Mrs. George Hardin, Pattonsburg; Mrs. Harvey Mason, Deer Trail, Colo.; Harvey, of the home; Charles, of Hugoton, Kan.; Pvt. Joe Woodring, stationed at Camp Barkley, Texas; and Mrs. Cecil Wilkerson, Pattonsburg. Another son, George preceded her in death. Her husband, Bennie Woodring, died thirty-six years ago. She is also survived by several sisters, among them Mrs. Lillie Brindle, of Rosendale, Mo, who had visited here recently. Mrs. Mason had been at the home several days before the mothers death. Services will be held this afternoon from Freedom Baptist Church, with which Mrs. Woodring was affiliated. Burial will be in the Wheeler Cemetery near the church. Mrs. Woodring was a native of Illinois. Her parents came to Missouri when she was only a few weeks old, settling in the Weatherby community. After her marriage to Mr. Woodring she lived on the farm where she died, a residence of 56 years. (Feb. 1943)

J. L. Brindle, a resident of this County for 68 years, died at his home in Tarkio (Missouri) Tuesday.
John Lewis Brindle was born in Muncie, Ind., September 21, 1858. He died July 20, 1926, aged 68 years, 10 months and 1 day. He came with his parents to Atchison County at the age of three years. Here he was reared to manhood and was married to Tempa Jane Madron in 1878. To this union eight children were born - Della J. Slemp, Rock Port: Lily Mae Slemp, St. Joseph: William L., Chas. R., Creed B. and Geo. E. Brindle, all of Rock Port, and Mamie R. Robison of Mound Valley, Kansas and John E. Brindle, who died in infancy September 11, 1898. Mr. Brindle was converted and joined the South Methodist Church when a young man, in which faith he died. On May 22, 1924, his wife passed on and on October 11, 1925, he was remarried to Mrs. Lily Morgan of St. Joseph., whom he leaves to mourn his loss, together with the four sons and three daughters, twenty grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; also one sister and one brother Mrs Mary Sparks of St. Joseph, and Dan Brindle of Lamar, Kansas. Porterville's oldest known resident, Lillie Brindle, celebrated her 106th birthday at Hacienda Care Center where she has lived the past three years.
Mrs. Brindle was born April 6, 1875, in Missouri. She reared seven children of whom Robert Morgan of Grants Pass, Ore. is the only one remaining.
Patients and friends joined Mrs. Brindle in the celebration with refreshments served by the Hacienda staff.

Survivors are his wife, Lillie, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Lettie Payton of Shenandoah, Iowa and Mrs. Clara Daniels of Pattonsburg, Mo.; a son, Elmer Simpson of Pattonsburg, Mo.; and one sister, Mrs. Lillie Brindle of Montebello, Calif. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Mountain Grove church conducted by Rev. Claude Counts. Burial was in the Gross (Groseclos) Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
