DAVID J. CODER, born 12 August 1812, in Luzerne County, PA, on 22 April 1841 in Mason County, IL, married (MARY) ELIZABETH FAULKNER, born 1 September 1819, in Hamilton County, OH.
Around 1848, David and Elizabeth Coder with their two sons HARRISON CODER (b.1841 IL) and ROBERT CODER (b.15 January 1845, Mason County, IL) moved to Indiana. David and Elizabeth had 2 more children: OLIVER WILLIAM CODER (b.1848, IN) and HARRIET ELIZABETH CODER (b.8 March 1850, IN).
Before 1858 David and his family moved to Denver (then called Fairview), Allen Twp., Worth County, MO, where Elizabeth died on 8 March 1858. David then married his second wife ELIZA JANE WATKINS (b. 25 March 1839, Clinton County, MO) the daughter of LEMUEL WATKINS and IZABELLA HICKS.
By the 1860 census the Coder family lived in Albany, Allen Twp., Gentry County, MO. David and Elizaís first child AMANDA BELLE CODER, was born there on 10 August 1860.
In the 1870 census, the David Coder family was living in East River Township (Clarinda P.O.), Page County, IA. They had a son GEORGE BARTON CODER who was born 10 August 1866 in Shambaugh, Page County, IA.
In the 1880 census the David Coder family was in Enyart, Wilson Twp., Gentry County, MO.
In February of 1892 the Albany Ledger newspaper lists D.J. Coder as a Road Overseer. I have copies of David J. Coder's application for his son Robert Coderís Civil War pension. The last document is dated 14 May 1892.
In the legal transactions listed in the 20 December 1895 issue of the Albany Ledger appears a notice announcing that D.J. Coder sold acreage in Gentry County to C and E.L. Harris.
I currently have no date of death or place of burial for David. Any help locating this information would be much appreciated. David is my great-greatgrandfather.
