Pike’s Peak rural school

My grandmother and her siblings grew up near Union Missouri in the 1860's to 80's. The obituary of a sister states that she "received her schooling in the Pike’s Peak rural school", so I think it's a fairly good bet that my grandmother and other siblings did as well. Does anyone in Franklin County know anything about this school? Are there records from this time period that I could access, and if so, how?
