Howdy Folks!

I have been researching my great-grandmother, Elizabeth Jane Lee who appears on the 1880 federal census in Ava Douglas County, Missouri. We THINK something happened to her around 1891 or 1892 (death? moved away?) She had a couple other kids after 1880 (including my grandfather, Wesley Randles Lee - born Dec. 1891).

Her eldest daughter, Mary Matilda Lee married a James Bradshaw and then took in all of her brothers and sisters. James Bradshaw shows up on several marriage certificates in the 1890s as their legal guardian.

We THINK ELizabeth's husband was Franklin Leslie (Wesley?) Lee.

We THINK that Elizabeth Lee's maiden name may have been Nelson.

It just seems to me that Elizabeth's family lived in Ava and /or around Douglas County from about 1870 or earlier until about 1910.

Do you know of any records or stories relating to any of them?

There is a rumor that Elizabeth's eldest son, John H. Lee was perhaps deaf and/or blind and may have been murdered by passing outlaws while sitting on the front porch...

I would be so grateful for ANY info you may have!

Dr. Buddy Clements (son of Rena Leota Lee)
