Matthew Huffman was the oldest child of Sarah and Jesse Huffman. He was my great grandpa and the sheriff of Douglas Co., MO. If I remember right, my mom told me that Jesse had a total of about 21 kids between his first wife and Sarah. His first wife was sick and Sarah came with her children and lived with the Huffmans to take care of her. After she died, Jesse and Sarah married and had the younger children listed in this post. Jesse died when Matthew was a young teenager and for some reason, he left home and was on his own, raising his younger brother (I believe it was Ben). Later in life, he continued to take in homeless boys. He married Ollie Buchanan in Ava, MO and had two boys, my grandpa (Milburn) and a younger brother (Wilbur). Both of them moved to Entiat, WA in the 1940's. My mom is the oldest of 5 kids and was 14 when they moved to WA. Benjamin Huffman had 3 boys, Dorsey, Kelly and Bill. Dorsey just died 2 weeks ago in Ava. I hope this helps fill in a few blanks for you.
