Jerry, Thank you very very much for your reply. It is great to hear from a Cousin in Douglas Co. I sent you some of my information. Please feel free to email me personally at firstname.lastname@example.org
I believe that James W.Stafford's (married to Sarah "Sally" Lea) father is Laban Stafford Jr. He is listed as living next to Laban JR. in Jackson Co. Tenn. 1840 Census; Laban is the only Stafford who has a son of James W. Stafford's age; James Stafford married to Polly Eskridge had a Son named James Madison Stafford whom never married;no offspring, and lived with mother & sister till death; The notation of Sr. and Jr. on Census (specifically the 1820 Census in Person co. N.C does not necessarily mean that these two James Staffords were father and son, it just means one is older than the other. There is other circumstancial evidence involving name associations and families traveling together from North Carolina, Tennessee, and Missouri, but finding proof and documentation verifying James W. Stafford's father has become very difficult.
Thanks again, please get in touch via email, and I would encourage any other Staffords from this line to help join the search to solve this problem.
Thank you Again - Freddy Lee Stafford - Leesville, Louisiana
