Georgenia,

I can provide a little more information on Sarah Jane "Todd" and try to gather some answers myself. The 'Pilfer' should be Pelfrey. I noticed that Pricey Elizabeth Pelfrey M. Geo. W. Todd in Dallas Co.,MO 17 Nov 1878, 3 yrs aft. Sarah J. was born in 1875. It would seem that she would not be a Todd.

Another explanation could be that she was Sarah Jane Pelfrey, the daughter of Wm. B. Pelfrey, Jackson, or James W. Pelfrey; all brothers to Pricey Elizabeth. Of the males, I have only found Jackson in the records of MO and ARK, but it appears he never married or at least not for long. However, I believe that Sarah J. said that her mother was born in ARK on one of the censuses which would (should?) not be true for Pricey.

In any event, she was closely associated with Pricey since Sarah J. Pelfrey, abt 28, m. at "the residence of P. E. Todd" who is Pricey Elizabeth Pelfrey. This wording would also make me think that Geo. W. Todd had passed away by 1903.

I hope we can find out if she was the mother or an aunt to Sarah J. I am glad to find out about the Twin Churches Cem. where she is buried although I will not be familiar with how to find it. I am also glad to find out she had Drusilla for her given names also. I am not sure, but I belive that Pricey started out as a nickname for Priscilla.
Chet Pelfrey
