Mr. Edward (Ed)Lipe, son of the late George and Sarah (Green) Lipe, was born in Dallas County, Missouri on August 10, 1898, and departed this life on Sunday, December 26,1971 in the Cox Medical Center where he had been a patient for six weeks. He was at the time of passing, 73 years, four months and 16 days of age.
He was united in marriage to Icyle Nimmo on December 15, 1918 and to this union was born one son, Edward Junior.
Mr. and Mrs. Lipe had owned and operated the March general store for the past 10 years, moving here from Springfield, MO.
He is survived by his wife, Icyle, of the home. His son; Junior, Buffalo, Mo. two grandaughters, Julia Mae Spencer, Springfield, Mo. and Carol Ann Lipe, Buffalo, Mo., one grandson, Delbert Owens, Kingsville, Texas. Also three great grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Purn Jack, Bufaflo, Mo. Mrs. Cora Jack, Kansas City, MO. Mrs. Dorothy Buffenburger, Springfield, Mo. and Mrs. Pearl Satterfield, Visalia, California, one brother, Jack Lipe, Fair Grove, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers, Virgil and Rob Lipe.
He was a member and deacon of the Center Point Baptist Church and was a faithful member as long as his health permitted.
To know him was to love him. He will be sadly missed in his home and community.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 1971 in the Center Point Baptist Church with the Rev. W.L. Murdaugh officiating. The church choir sang, "Amazing Grace," "I Would Not Be Denied," "Hold To God's Unchanging Hands," and "Precious Memories" accompanied by Mrs. Slyvia Snodgress, pianist. Escorts were Ruben Eske, Ed Mead, Joe Bill Bass, Dale Dill, Wayne Austin and Howard McCurry. Interment was in the Center Point Cememtery under the direction of Jones Cantlon Funeral Home.
