My mother and her father always kept newspaper clippings. I hope this will help someone with their research. Effa Mae Lackey, daughter of J.C. and Victoria Lackey, was born June 7, 1892, near Buffalo. She departed this life Feb. 14, 1950, at her home in Buffalo at the age of 57 years, 8 months and 7 days. She accepted Christ as her Saviour at an early age and united with the Louisburg Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until death. On July 24, 1909, she was united in marriage to Francis M. Jones. To this union was born a son, Rexford, better known as Ted. Effa received much pleasure from a hobby of collecting antiques and unusual china. She enjoyed showing them to her many friends, but her greatest concern was for her family. Her life was centered around her home and surroundings. To her many friends she was known as a kind, thoughtful woman and to her family as a loving, devoted wife and mother. The best of care that medical science and her loved ones could give her during her illness was not enough. God, the Father of all mercies, saw fit to call her to that eternal happiness which is in Heaven above. She is survived by her husband, son and daughter and daughter-in-law, Vada, whom she loved as her own, all of Buffalo. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. O.E. Snider and Mrs. Vience Neill of Buffalo, and Mrs. Calvin Mitchell of Edwardville, Ill.; two brothers, James Lackey of Osceola, and Howard of Buffalo; many nieces and mephews and many other relatives and friends. Services were held Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. in the L.B. Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. T.S. Hammons officiating, assisted by Rev. E.H. Michalkowsky and Rev. Orville Hodge. Burial followed in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Notify Administrator about this message?
