First of all, I am sorry for not getting to you sooner. I never got the email from genforum stating you had replied.

Next, your email if very exciting to me because you may have given me a clue to my GGGreat grandfathers name. I will explain that later.

Now for Dora: I don't know...yet. I bought two volumes of transcribed marriage records from the Dade County Historical Society this summer and then went off and left them at my mother-in-laws. Now I am back in Korea. The good news is that they are being sent to me but I am not sure how long they will take to get here, maybe six weeks.

Okay, I will find this out sooner or later. I am a member of the Dade County Genealogical Society and will email someone there and ask them to go to the courthouse and check and then email me. I am excited about your post because it is a part of my family that I need information on.

Now, nothing in my research indicates that Frances D. Edge was adopted so it has to be Caroline Mitchell. I have her mother's tombstone picture (heaven knows where) and her name was Aby. She is burried in Rice Cemetery (1816-1889) near Dadeville with all of the children of Henry and Frances D. (nee Edge) Jones. She is not next to her husband and to my knowledge there is not tombstone for him anyway. You can see the Jones' tombstones at

Also, a couple of years ago two people asked for a copy of all of my Jones research. I sent it to one but lost the name/address of the other. I have an envelope of about 100 (or more) pages of research for all Jones' in Dade County (two different confirmed lines plus one "loose" end family). Would you like to have it? I will mail it to you after August 17. I have all the records and it is just taking up space on my research shelf. All I ask in return is that you stay in touch and share you family history finds. I have helped several people all on the promise that they will do the same and then I never hear from them again (after they get my information).

Please email me with your address if you want the information. My email is

Now, I am excited about your post because you mention Andy and Frances as the parents. Now I know that it does not mean much but Frances Edge married Burkett Jones. I cannot find anything on Burkett and have no middle name. I am wondering if "Andy" would be Andrew for Burkett. Burkett and Frances' first son was Andrew Jackson "Jack" Jones and was killed in a battle at Pilot Knob during the civil war (only a copy of an old letter to confirm him and his family). Also, so I am wondering if he is a namesake of Burkett's as in Burkett Andrew Jones. It has given me a new avenue to try, so thank you very much!! If I can prove this it will open some long closed doors!!

I look forward to hearing from you and sharing our information.
