I have a copy of the widow's pension for Perliza C. (Murray) Crawford who was m. to William E. Crawford. He was b. 1836, Milford, Decatur County, Indiana; she was b. 1844 in MO. He was the third William E. in this family. His grandfather was Wm E. b. 1784, son of James Crawford b.1758 VA. His father was Wm E., b. 1811 Ind. I also have a certified copy of the certificate of service issued to me by the Adjutant General's Office, State of Missouri. On it, it states that William E. Crawford was 26 years old and tells about him dying (like the pension app.), but it also has a description: Height 5'8 1/2", Hair Brown, Eyes Blue, Complexion light. Occupation was farmer and it says Nativity: Milford, Decatur County, Indiana.
Place of residence at time of enlistment: Pendleton, St. Francois County, Missouri. This Wm E. had only one child, William Isom Crawford, who was my mother's grandfather and she is still alive at the age of 85 and remembers him well. I am posting this because there has been some misinformation about the family. There are lots of Crawford's around! Colleen McNeil
