Thank you for your post on the John Smith and Mary Koontz family. They were my husband's gr gr grandparents. I'm afraid I don't have much in the way of old records. I do
have a hard-to-read copy of the recording of their marriage
gotten from the Missouri State Archives, Cooper County marriage record, volume B, page 254. You can make out their names and the date of their marriage, 3/2/1848.

You show that John and Mary,on the 1870 Cooper County, MO census, had,in their home a William C. Wilkerson, age 18, born in Missouri. My husband descends from this William C.Wilkerson.

If you are interested in learning more about him or his descendents, I can fill you in.

My husband's William C.(Cary) Wilkerson, b 6/22/1822, Lesville, Henry County, MO, was a country school tearher; he died of consumption, 2/20/1897. m 5/23/1873, Cooper County, MO, Lucretia Ellen McMillian, b Buchanan County, MO, 8/10/1850, died 2/16/1940. She was christened into the Church of Christ in 1887, transerred to the Methodist Church in 1923. Both are buried at Harmony Cemetery,(I believe in,St.Clair Co),MO. (I have a really good picture of the couple.) Would love to share info. Mary C
