There is a township called Pilot Grove. The census images I subscribe have this family there in 1900.

Pilot Grove, Moniteau, Missouri

John E Dreschey abt 1852 Ohio Head
Aarne Dreschey abt 1852 Ireland Wife
Roy Dreschey abt 1882 Missouri Son
Edgar Dreschey abt 1885 Missouri Son
Luther Dreschey abt 1889 Missouri Son
Maggie Dreschey abt 1891 Missouri Daughter

This is a 100:1 shot.
"Dreschey" is a soundex clone of "Dorsey"
"John" and "James" are sometimes mixed,
Half the Irish women in the world go by "Mollie".

That is three HUGE if's. A fourth; if your grandmother's name was Margaret, this might be her.

says there is a Pilot Grove in Daviess County, too. Neither Cooper nor Daviess have a James Dorsey in them in 1900.
