Just obtained hospital records for my ggrandfather from 1927. He was Joseph Edmond Brown and the records state that he was born in Pataskala, Ohio in April of 1853, though on earlier census, Illinois was listed as father's place of birth for his children. (Joseph was never with the family at census taking time. Makes him so difficult to find!) Record also states that his father was J W Brown. Joseph reports that he had three sisters and three or four brothers. I know Joseph went to college in Quincy, Illinois, and I kind of thought the family must have relocated to Illinois from Ohio. Why else would Joseph go to college in Illinois all the way from Ohio? He worked as school teacher for a short time after leaving school, then became a painter/paper hanger in Kansas City, MO until he took over a job of managing boarding houses in that city in 1904. His wife and children stayed in Gower, Missouri. Joseph lost touch with his family after his marriage to Rhoda Groom in 1885. Does anyone have a JW Brown in their line that may be a lead for me to follow? Many thanks!
I do have a picture of who I think are an elderly J W Brown and his wife. Joseph's son, Ivan, who filled out the information on the hospital records knew JW Brown, but didn't know the name of Joseph's mother. I have been obsessed of late with reconnecting Joseph with the rest of his family. Don't know why, but I am. Thank you for any help. And happy new year to you all.
