The information about John came from a biographical sketch of one of John's sons who was a prominent businessman in Graham, Texas. The sketch also stated that John was very activie in Confederate Veterans affairs after he moved to Texas in 1879. I could find no evidence that he served the Confederacy nor any evidence of his participation in veteran's affairs. Therefore, until some positive evidence is found, I am going to assume that the writer of the biographical sketch was mistaken about John and that the information is false, in part or in whole. Thank you, Phillip.
