James H. Raines, buried in the Garrison Cemetery, is 69 and living with his 64-year-old wife in S. Marion Township in 1900 with a reported birth state of Kentucky. I have his Civil War service record (6th Regiment MO Cavalry Volunteers). He also had a Civil War pension to which his widow, Manda Clark, was entitled following his death around 1908. He may be on the census of 1870 in Marion Township with his first family, including a wife Dianah Adams, though his birth date is off by a number of years. His son, James Robert Rains, married a daughter of Samuel Isom & Julia Ann Moody Case. And I have a photo of him taken in Bradleyville circa 1900 during a reunion of Civil War veterans. Otherwise I know almost nothing about my ggGrandfather's life. Anyone ever run across him?
