I just posted message at Mathews gen forum regarding my theory about wife of William Wells Mathews being none other than Naomi (Louisa) Mathews, daughter of John Andrew Mathews and Sara Elizabeth Weatherman. My first clue was the spelling of Naomie in 1860 census (see Mathis--White River, Barry Co., Arkansas). Corroboration came from 1910 census with William W. & Naomi along with sisters Pheobe Shipman and Elizabeth Hill living with (James) Thomas & family in Grandview, Cherokee Co., OK. The sisters all list same parent birth states. Anybody with a better idea?!! She must have used nicknames a lot as she has frustrated so many researchers, but name in 1860 census and again in 1910 census confirm this is same wife--also that both state they have been married 56 years. The light goes on!!
