Janet,
I have a David DAVIS, b abt 1820 & died bef 1859 in Garrison, Christian, Mo. He was m to my gg-gmother, Lucy DAVIS b 1826 TN. She died prob in Barry Co., MO betw 1912 & 1920.

I have been trying to trace both these DAVIS family's for years but the above is about all I know abt either of them.
David & Lucy had several children: Silas David or David Silas, Mary Elizabeth Rebecca, Richard, Martha +?.
Could they be part of your Davis family?

After David DAVIS died, Lucy married Mr. Rigney. She had one child by him, Minerva, b 1859, who is my g-gmother. They were living in Shoal Creek (Cassville), Barry, MO in 1860.

I have been unable to find David & Lucy DAVIS in the 1850 census. It seems both husbands were deceased by 1860 as Lucy appears by herself with 3 of her children: Silas DAVIS, Mary D. DAVIS and Minerva RIGNEY. Have no idea where the rest of her children were although family verbal history suggests that Richard went to fight in Civil War and was never heard of again.

Any help would be great.
Thanks, Irene McTeer Hunt - fihunt@vers5d.com
