Yes, there are several connections. I am descended from all of these families.

The farthest Hiles ancestor I have found is Andrew Hiles, b 1812. Andrew's daughter Elizabeth is my ancestor. Elizabeth's husband, Andrew McDaniel, was the son of Matilda Jane Shipman. Matilda was the daughter of Abraham Shipman and Esther Garrison.

Now for some other connections between the families...

Andrew Hiles' daughter Temperance Catherine married James Shipman Johnson, son of Henry Johnson and Hannah Shipman (daughter of James Shipman, brother to my Abraham)

Andrew Hiles' son Andrew married Tennessee Greenville Chronister, grandaughter of the aforementioned Henry Johnson and Hannah Shipman.

Also, Andrew Hile's wife Catherine Walker was the aunt of the BaldKnobber David Columbus Walker whose wife was Sarah Shipman (sister to my Matilda, daughter of Abraham Shipman and Esther Garrison).

Another of the Walkers in her family (Charles Gatin Walker) was married to another daughter of Henry Johnson and Hannah Shipman (Mary).

These are the ones I find in my family tree. (I always say my tree forks and then comes back together! lol)

I have more dates, names, etc to go with these if you need them. Are you related to the Hiles family?

:-) Kim
