Hi Kim, I am in Houston, TX right now at my daughters, so cannot check anything at home. However, I was born and raised in Independence. My maiden name was Alice Campbell. I have Brown families that came from Wythe County, VA to Johnson County, IN and then about 1870 to Indep., KS. The Campbell, Brown and Henderson families were all related from that area. Along with many other families. And yes, the area they settled was not Indy in the beginning. I have the first small book about Indy that was published and copies of the pages from the old large book that pretained to my family.
Was Mr. McDaniel the one who ran the grocery store on West Laurel? If so, I knew them quite well when I was very young, as we always stopped at the store on the way home from school. I attended Lincoln.
Thanks for your reply.
Will write more when I get back home.
Alice
