Mowrey, Hughes, Thompson, Whitecotton

Looking for info on my great grandmother Saloma White Cotton. During the 1870 Christian Co census she was living in the household of James and Siller (sp?) Mourey or Mowrey (both in their 60s). She was listed under the surname White and was listed as age 25. Also in the household and listed as "in family" were her sister Safrony White Cotton age 19, Joseph Hues/Hughes age 12 born AR (later married Elizabeth Burkhart), Huston Hues/Hughes age 10 born AR and Joseph Thompson/Tomson age 80 born NC. Saloma's mother was said to have been Sarah Thompson, so old Joseph could have been her maternal grandfather. Family says that Saloma and her sister were orphaned at a young age and that they were at least half Cherokee. Any info greatly appreciated.
