Thanks for the reply!! I always thought Kate was my ggma Nettie's mom. I didn't know about Margaret. Kate's maiden name was Schmidt. Did you hear the story about her mother died and her father let some friends take care of Kate. Then when he got back on his feet they told him Kate was killed in an Indian raid in New Ulm, MN. They later settled in Chariton Cty. where she married RG. Then Kate's father found out she was alive and visited her in Chariton Cty, in 1879.
I am beginning to wonder if Kate and Margaret are the same person??? Kate is her original name and Margaret the name given to her by the foster parents??
