I believe that Archibald Campbell, born in 1821 Greene Co. TN, is my ggggrandfather. He married Elizabeth McMillan in Greene Co. TN on July 29, 1845. She was born Jan. 12, 1826 in Greene Co TN. Elizabeth was pregnant when they married and she gave birth to a daughter, Barsheba Caroline Campbell on Dec. 3, 1845.
A little over a month after Elizabeth gave birth, an Archibald Campbell born in 1821 Greene Co TN marries Amanda Percise in Cass, MO. If the Cass, MO Archibald Campbell is the same Archibald Campbell who married Elizabeth McMillan (and the LDS genealogy site shows three marriage records for an Archibald Campbell born in 1821 Greene Co. TN. 1st to a McMillan, 2nd to a Percise, and 3rd to a Fowler). If this is correct information, was Archibald married to Elizabeth McMillan and Amanda Percise at the same time with neither woman knowing about the other? I ask this question only because Elizabeth McMillan and Archibald Campbell had a 2nd child together in Greene Co TN two years after the Cass, MO Archibald Campbell married Amanda Percise. James Woodard Campbell was born in March of 1848 and he is my gggrandfather. No other children are known to have been born to Archibald Campbell and Elizabeth McMillan, and Elizabeth is not known to have ever had other children.
There is a Greene Co TN marriage record for Archibald Campbell and Elizabeth McMillan, so there must also be a divorce record; however, I have no idea when they divorced.
Elizabeth McMillan Campbell did remarry a 2nd time
circa 1860 to a much older Joseph O. Black, as shown on the 1860 Greene Co TN census. They had no child together. She was left a widow less than a year after the marriage. There is no known record of Elizabeth McMillan Campbell Black ever marrying again.
Elizabeth McMillan Campbell Black is buried in the Sinking Springs Lutheran Church Cemetery in Greene Co. TN, as is her daughter, Barsheba Caroline Keifer, her son-in-law James M. Keifer and some of their children. Her son James moved to central Texas with his wife, children, in-laws and some of their other children in 1875.
Are there any McMillan, Campbell, Peck, or Keifer family descendants out there who have unquestionable proof that the same Archibald Campbell married all three of the women mentioned in this message? I just want to move on up the line with my research and know the information I have recorded is correct.
