Parents for E. Booth, m. William Easley 1849
Posted by: Ted Pack (ID *****6680) Date: June 26, 2003 at 12:56:53

I have Ellen, Elenor or Eleanor BOOTH marrying William D. Easley 13 Dec 1849, back when Cass county was still Van Buren County. The Easleys are well-documentsd on RW WC by reseachers who are better than I am.

Does anyone have Ellen's parents or siblings?

She and William moved to Texas before 1880. This is an FGS:

HUSBAND NOTES: William D. Easley
General(1,2,3,4,5):

Virginia Easley DeMarce writes:

William was born in NC according to the census. J.D. Easley, author of "Three Centuries of Easley Genealogy", stated that he was born in Mississippi. Kirby Easley Johnson, author of "Our Easley Family and their Relatives", repeated the error. William married Ellen (or Eleanor) Booth, b. abt 1833. The first three children [Clifton, Clara Belle and Warham] are from the 1860 census of Jackson County, Missouri. The others are taken from J.D. Easley.

According to Kirby Easley Johnson, the Civil War Battle of Lone Jack was fought on William's farm.

Ted Pack writes:

William's AF entry has him married in Van Buren County, Missouri. His IGI reference has him married in Cass County. According to the US Gen Web Cass County page, Cass County was first called Van Buren, in honor of President Van Buren, whom the Missourians delighted to honor at that time. But after he had been the presidential candidate of the Free Soil party in the preceding canvass, the Democratic legislature changed the name to Cass County on February 19, 1849 to honor Lewis Cass, of Michigan. Cass had been the Democratic candidate in 1848, and had been defeated by General Taylor.

In 1880 William had moved to Texas and taken up the habit of going by his initials. On the LDS census transcription for 2nd Ward, Gainesville, Cooke, Texas, page 200C, we find:

(Name, Relation, Marital Status, Gender, Race, Age, Birthplace, Occupation,
Father's Birthplace, Mother's Birthplace)

W. D. Easley, Self, M, Male, W, 53, NC, Cattle Man, SC, SC;
E. Easley, Wife, M, Female, W, 47, KY, Keeping House, VA, VA;
B. F. Easley, Son, S, Male, W, 16, MO, <>, NC, KY;
Curtly Easley, Son, S, Male, W, 13, MO, <>, NC, KY;

William's daughter, Clara Belle Easley, is living right next door with her husband, John Henry Belcher.

I looked ahead and behind of this household in the LDS web site. Some people used their real names, some their initials. It appears to be personal choice, not the census enumerator's whim.

WIFE NOTES: Elenor, Eleanor or Ellen Booth
General(1,6,2,7,5):
Eleanor's birth year is 1830 on the AF. She is 47 in the 1880 census, which points to a birth year in the 1833 range.
