Basinger or Baysinger or Bassinger and Shaw
Posted by: B Toussaint (ID *****6782) Date: November 21, 2005 at 05:18:33

My ggrandfather James Monroe Shaw married my ggrandmother Clara Belle Basinger/Baysinger/Bassinger in Dunklin Co., MO around 1890 (I have no record of this--just family history) and had children Alsa (1893), Ora Jane (1894), Thomas (1896), and Harry (1898) in the Malden area--best guess.

J.M. is listed as a widower on the 1900 census. The family migrated to Butler Co. shortly thereafter and my aunt remembers an Uncle Mart. She thinks he was a Basinger and I've found a Martin Luther Basinger who fits the description and locations so I'm guessing he's the right one.

Can anyone help me connect Martin Luther Basinger to Clara Belle Basinger and/or give me more information on this family and the rest of the members--mother and father names, etc.? Even just a point in the right direction would be appreciated.

Any information, family tales, "I've run across that name", or just guesses about the Shaw family would also be welcome.

Thank you,
D. Toussaint
