This is a long shot, but I am trying to break down my brick wall.
I have traced my Jackson family from Rutherford Co. (1830 census) NC, to Sevier Co.Tenn. (1840 census), then found them on the 1850 census for wayne Co. Mo. They were not listed in Wayne Co. in 1860.
I have found a deed where Jonas K. Jackson and Elizabeth A. Jackson are selling land in Bollinger co. Mo, to D. A. ( David A.) Jackson. This deed was signed on 11 April 1860 and filed on 22 July 1867.
I am trying to prove parentage of Jonas K. and Elizabeth to Alford/Alfred (difference in spelling) Jackson, born ca. 1857.
Also should be listed are other children Andrew born ca. 1847; Francis M. born ca. 1848-49; Rayford born ca. 1850-56; and william A. (Asbury), born ca 1858. All the children of Jonas and Elizabeth were born in Mo. I need to find Alfred listed in his fathers household.
Jonas was the son of Harmon (born 1790 in NC) and Charity (unknown) Jackson. They were also listed in the 1850 Wayne Co. census.
on the 1880 census for Hot Spring Co., Arkansas Alfred and william are listed as with their mother, Elizabeth A. Smith, she is listed as divorced. So you can see where my problem comes in at. Did Jonas die and she then marry a Smith and divorce him. Or was she married to a Smith afer divorcing Jonas and the Smith died (as the male Smith is not listed).
I have yet to place them on any 1870 census, they will be somewhere between Mo. and Arkansas.
Alfred Jackson died in 1911 and is buried in the Unity cemetery in Howard Co. Arkansas.
I am sorry this is so long, any help, or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks Jan
