U.S. States: Missouri: Bates County
Between 1845 and 1859 there are many land transactions in Bates Co., MO for the Feely families of Alexander, John, Harrison W., Henry, James W., and Robert N.. Alexander is listed as one of the first founders of West Boone Township in Bates Co. Bates county is on the western border of Mo. and I believe that would place it in the vicinity of KC. Alexander is also listed as having served in 1861 as one of the county judges. I think some or all of these families, and they may have all been in the same family for all I know, came to MO from in or near Pickaway Co., OH. I think there is a Deer Creek township there and, interestingly enough, most of the land transactions noted above are in Deer Creek Township in Bates Co., MO.
My interst in the Feely families is due to the marriage of June Feely (b. 1830) to William Barton Holderman (b abt 1817). Incidentally, Barton Holderman also has a number of land transactions there in Bates Co.
Please post more if you have any additional info on the Feely's.
