This is going to be difficult to explain. I have been searching my Westbrook family for years. They were originally from Sangamon and Montgomery Counties in Illinois and then to Schuyler County Missouri. In 1870 I lost them, not in the census records in any of the neighboring counties. I critally need to find them in the 1870 census. Finally, after 20 years of searching I find a connection to Bates County Missouri on a birth record for a child of John Westbrook. John says he was born in Bates County Missouri and the census records say it was December 1872. He was a son of Alex and Nancy Westbrook. But, that is not all. You mentioned Solomon Dennis Logsdon. What is interesting about that is that there is a connection with the Mead/Meed family. Edy Meads was the mother of Alexander Westbrook. She is said to be the daughter of William Meads that left Illinois for Missouri at a very old age and wasn't heard from again. I can't remember the connection between the Meads and Logsdon family, but I know it exists. I'm excited about this. Bates County is new to me. But, by 1880 Alex and family is back in Schuyler County with another wife. Nancy evidently died shortly after the birth of John because Alexander is married to Mary Jane in 1873 when they have a child together. According to Mary's daughters marriage record her mother's maiden name was Crawford, so I don't think it could be the same Mary you are referring to. Do you think we have a connection on any of this?
