"Papinville History 1847-1997" compiled by Phyllis (Marquardt) Stewart & Beverly (Rhodes)Sullins.
for a copy of this book contact:

Re: your reply: 1. Lemuel Cady; I have found some more info. in the above mentioned book. Lemuel was a blacksmith in the town of Papinville, MO in the late 1800's. page 19

Cady had residence or business in block 21 of Jackson's addition to the original town of Papinville in 1916. page 18
Note: on a later plat copy in the same book it appears that there is still a house (or building) standing on same corner of the block.

Papinville, Prairie Twp. Bates Co. MO
L. Cady b. PA 1817, P.O. Address: Papinville,

wife's maiden name: L. Wilson b. NY 1824.
(this was taken from a photocopy of "Newson's County Directory for Bates County, MO") page 59 of the "Papinville History 1847-1997"

Melina Lyle Cady was the sister of Marion R. Lyle, he was the eldest of 5 children of Robert & Anna (Evans) Lyle. Robert b. PA Anna b. OH; Marion b. 9-12-1835, Muskingun Co. OH.

Also in the above book in Chapter XXII page 931:
Business Directory of Papinville Lists:
(Cody,L. as blacksmith) I believe this is supposed to be Cady.

Before I forget again, the source on the Rich Hill Cemeteries, was "Bates County Missouri Cemeteries 1980" compiled by: E. J. Christiansen.

Took a chance on the different spelling: Cody, and looked in the same cemetery book again, an found: Mrs. Jerome Cody, d. 4-6-1927, 70 yrs. old in same Rich Hill cemeteries.

No,I did not walk the cemeteries, just forgot to give you the Source on the first post. Just read back over you email, I didn't look up Thomas J. Wright, husb. of Anna Laura Cady, took a quick in index and found about 12 in Rich Hill cemetery alone, listed by: Wright. If you want this let me know, and I will do a little more research.

So far I have not found the county you mentioned in CA in my family. Thanks anyway.
Thelma Conrad
