Dear Karen,
Just found my notes on the date of the obituary notice for Jesse Haskins; This was found in the Fort Smith library for a friend in 1986. The first part of the note is an exact quote. Needless to say, I have not had an opportunity to go back and find the article to get a copy of it. Hope all is well with you and yours. Martha Anne Holt
Jesse Haskins
Madison County Democrat, June 29, 1916

Under “Madison County Musings”

“Two prominent residents of Ball Creek Community died recently.” 2nd listing: Jess Haskins.

The exact wording of the article following that headline is from memory, but read something like this: “Jess Haskins died June 8th of overheat, he being a fleshy man, once the largest man in the county, weighing over 400 pounds.”
