Smith family of North Fork Barton Co, Missouri
Posted by: Dennis Doughty (ID *****1522) Date: October 22, 2003 at 07:54:20

My ancestors from Hamilton County Illinois, Augustus and Elizabeth Smith, settled somewhere (family information) in Missouri after 1880.

This couple had several children in Illinois and probably travelled to Missouri with sons William F., Augustus, daughters Elizabeth and Eliza.

In the 1920 census for Barton County Missouri I found a person born in Illinois, 54 years of age, with both parents born in Tenn., by the name of Augustus Smith and Wife Nancy, with son Frances who was born in Missouri and was 26 in 1920.

I have also located in Barton County Missouri in the 1900 Census a family by name of Augustus and Nanci (Mammi?) Smith with sons Marshall, Francis, and Ray or Roy E.

In 1930 Barton County Census I located a Frances E. Smith with wife Buelah and daughters Ellen and Velma.

In the 1930 census for Barton County I also located a Marshall Smith with wife Willie (?) sons Lewis, William, Johnny, Roy or Ray, and daughter Cejotola (?spelling?.

I believe these families could be connected to my ancestors from Hamilton County, Illinois.

Is anyone researching this Smith family?

Thank you,
Dennis Doughty
